Planet Weather for the Week of February 8, 2004

Planet Weather for the Week of February 8, 2004

SkyWatch - All week -- NASA's Mars rover Spirit is all better, back on its feet -- or wheels -- as a fully functioning robot geologist while Mars climbs ever higher in the evening sky, keeping the red planet in double focus. And Spirit's companion Opportunity is off and merrily rolling across the Martian countryside making discoveries which suggest that water once flowed freely across the surface of this now-arid world. 2/8 -- The Moon passes within 6-1/2 degrees of Jupiter about 9 AM EST and will still be close by moonrise on the East Coast around 8 PM EST, always a lovely sight. 2/10 -- Early evening on this date offers the best chance for a while to see the elusive Zodiacal Light, a faint cone of light rising up just after dark from the point on the Western horizon where the Sun has set. You need very clear dark seeing conditions (away from city lights) to spot it, however. The Zodiacal Light is believed to be the reflection of sunlight off dust particles traveling in the plane of Earth's orbit. 10/13 -- The Last or Third Quarter Moon is exact at 8:40 AM EST and will be visible in the morning after sunrise until it sets around noon.  Go out! Look up!

Happy Birthday Aquarius, Eccentric of the Zodiac!
The Sun in Aquarius 1/20/04 to 2/19/04.

You’re in good Zodiac Company with: Natalie Cole, Paul Newman, Christina Ricci, Justin Timberlake.

Aquarius is a fixed air sign ruled by Uranus (futuristic, humanistic).

Aquarians make great friends, as they are typically tolerant of differences and often enjoy unusual or eclectic and creative people. Aquarians lean either more toward Saturn (traditional ruler of Aquarius) or more toward Uranus (its modern ruler). If Saturn in emphasized, the truth may be somewhat immovable and rigid. If Uranus is emphasized, a more rebellious energy wanting to tear down stifling/false structures is exhibited somewhere in the personality or life.

Planetary Highlights this week:

Saturn in cardinal water Cancer Rx 10/25/03 until 3/7/04

Saturn in cardinal water Cancer Rx 10/25/03 until 3/7/04. Jupiter in mutable Virgo Rx 1/3-5/4/04.

(Rx means retrograde - apparent backward motion of a planet along the Zodiac as seen from the Earth).

The Weekly Weather --

Hot Spots – Sunday 2/8, Thursday 2/12 and Saturday 2/14/04.  On 2/8/04Venus changes signs and enters spirited, fiery Aries. Watch your relationships get energized and if there is an issue that has been ignored, this Venus position will bring it front and center. Strong feelings may emerge later in the day with a Pluto/Moon square (90deg.angle). On 2/12/04 – Mercury and Neptune Moon squares, followed by a lassez-faire Jupiter aspect - means this day can be confusing and over the top, exaggerated and somewhat out of control. Listen to your feelings and your gut instincts. On 2/14/04 – The day is commercially loaded and the pressure is on, as lovers and sweethearts attempt to meet each other’s expectations. Romance is definitely on the agenda, and the joys of pleasing each other. Smooth Mercury and Neptune aspects make it easy to whisper sweet nothings and express your romantic feelings. Watch out for excesses that may catch up with you later in the evening and can mean misjudging a situation.

Venus enters fiery Aries 1/14/04 – 2/8/04. Venus in Aries is Venus in Mars’ natural sign, which spices up relationship activity and makes conditions more direct and bold. It also brings a sparring or fighting tendency and, at the very least, much more vibrancy, spirit and activity. To keep your relationships healthy, refuse to bottle up the energy and consider sports or other physical activities to participate in together to release some of the excess tension associated with this position. Why not engage in a tickling or wrestling match together?

Mars in earthy Taurus 2/3-3/21/04. Mars in Taurus is Mars in a Venus sign. So now we have both relationship planets very preoccupied with whatever hot-button dynamic is prevalent in your relationships. Confrontation is not uncommon and you can expect a necessary need for repositioning yourself in various relationships. Understanding the image you present, the nature of the relationship you have, and the various satisfactions you derive will be subjects of inquiry and interest. Sensuality and heat predominate.

Saturn in cardinal water Cancer 6/3/03 – 7/17/5. Saturn is retrograde until 3/7/04.  By 2/9/04 Saturn reaches 6 Cancer and the degree at which it will turn direct. It is also the closest it will come again to the USA Jupiter @ 5 Cancer. Given that fact, we may well see some recurring difficulties in US interests abroad or with coalition partners and possibly some economic dampening through some bad press. Certainly, Bush is under fire for the (Jupiterian – always risk involved) philosophy/reasoning (if you can call it that) that brought us into war with Iraq.

Uranus in Pisces 12/30/03 until May 2010! We can say that Uranus in Pisces is the truth of our souls. As we move ever deeper into new Uranus/Pisces territory (2/26/04) we may discover glimmers and slivers of our soul’s truth revealed. It is an exciting time and we are invited to ponder the vastness of our soul’s journey and reiterate or readjust the meaning we have given to our life and its experiences. The time is rich and shocking as we come face to face with nuances that previously only shimmered dimly beneath the surface of our awareness. This interpretation applies to our culture as well. Uranus begins a trine (120deg.) to the USA Venus/Cancer on 2/26/04, which can counterbalance Saturn’s closeness to USA Jupiter mentioned above. Interestingly, John Kerry is also receiving Uranus trine his Venus/Scorpio. It is likely this reflection in both charts is a cosmic hum that is elevating Kerry’s value and his recent primary victories.

Remember: Aspects and energies are neutral – depending on how they are used, the motives and intentions of the person/entity using them. All energies/signs/aspects have both positive and negative qualities and manifestations.

Janet Jackson’s Breast

Janet Jackson’s Breast! The uproar continues over the exposure of Janet Jackson’s breast during the Super Bowl half-time show. The stunt by which Justin Timberlake tore off part of Jackson’s costume and exposed her breast has the nation buzzing and many outraged. The USA is a Cancer country with Mercury, Jupiter and Venus also located in Cancer, the sign of women, motherhood, family, nurturing and yes, Cancer also rules the breasts and womb. The prevailing sentiment revolves around the inappropriateness of the stunt for the venue, which is largely family oriented, with many children watching. It wasn’t just Janet’s breast but also the bump and grind dancing that preceded it. The breast thing was the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak. Saturn and Uranus are both making strong aspects to the USA chart, causing us to revisit our cultural norms and the direction entertainment is going. We are, after all, a country founded in Puritan roots and we have always had an uneasy relationship with sexuality. Uranus/Pisces is bringing awareness of cultural attitudes, particularly in the film and entertainment industry. Pisces, along with spirituality, is also the seductive, scandalous, salacious, and the escapist tendencies we all have.

Democratic Candidates. Kerry wins big in two more primaries and Dean’s light has dimmed astonishingly and quite suddenly – a tough Saturn transit across his Ascendant completely shifted his position as front-runner. In fact, we may soon see Dean leaving the field. Next week, we will review Kerry’s chart again and assess his chances for defeating Bush in November. There’ll be notes on other candidates left standing on the Democratic field.

Planetary Lineup:

Sun-Aquarius, Mercury-Aquarius, Venus-Pisces (Aries by 2/8/04), Mars-Taurus, Jupiter Rx-Virgo, Saturn Rx-Cancer, Uranus-Pisces

Sun-Aquarius, Mercury-Aquarius, Venus-Pisces (Aries by 2/8/04), Mars-Taurus, Jupiter Rx-Virgo, Saturn Rx-Cancer, Uranus-Pisces, Neptune-Aquarius, Pluto-Sagittarius.

(Rx means retrograde – apparent backward motion of a planet along the Zodiac as seen from the Earth.)

Fire — 2 (3 by 2/8/04), Earth — 2, Air — 3, Water — 2 (1 by 2/8/04) = Planets in Element distribution.

(Since the Moon moves quickly, 2½ days per sign, it is not included in the tally -- the Moon moves through each element 3 times per month). Elemental shift this week – Fire and Air dominate and Water is least with one placement.

Some emotions are likely to go underground or be repressed. We may favor logic and practicality and give short shrift to our feelings, so be aware of this tendency and expect emotions to launch a protest! The predominant signs occupied are airy Aquarius (3), fiery Aries (1), earthy Taurus (1), earthy Virgo (1), watery Cancer (1), watery Pisces (1) and fiery Sadge (1).There are 3 planets in 3 Mutable signs (Virgo/Pisces/Sadge) – sift information/impressions according to your inner compass. There are 4 planets in 2 Fixed sign (Aquarius/Taurus). Focus energies on development and enhancement of your best projects/ideas. There are 2 planets in 2 Cardinal sign (Cancer/Aries). Although things have a tendency to slow down a bit, they will go deeper and be more thorough. Get rooted! Go for it! Whew!

Days of the Week and Moon Changes

Sunday, February 8, 2004 – Venus enters Aries
Sunday, February 8, 2004Venus enters Aries!
Moon in Virgo, Mutable Earth (common sense, helpful), VOC @ 7:23PM EST.

(VOC=Void of Course. The Moon makes no major contact with another planet before it leaves a sign. Indicates disconnected feelings and random, free-floating moods. An easygoing and less-structured time, not the best time for major decisions or starting new projects. Great for parties though! VOC ends as the Moon enters the next sign.)

Þ        Exaggerated emotional responses by you or others can have you feeling overwhelmed in either a positive way or a less than desirable way. Relationships will need more attention and some necessary confrontation around issues that have gone ignored.

Monday, February 9, 2004

Moon VOC in Virgo.

Moon into Libra, Cardinal Air (considerate, judicial) @ 10:12AM EST.

Þ        Social etiquette aside, this is likely to be a pleasant day. If “words” are necessary, curb rapid-fire retorts in favor of listening to the point of view of the other. Still, constant compromise is too much, so find the right balance with the right persons. Seek solace in your comforting habits.

Tuesday, February 10, 2004

Moon in Libra.

Þ        Imagination is high and your senses are on overactive. Take some time to smell the roses or better yet view some art. The bottom line -- build in some daydreaming and you’ll be able to manage the rest of your schedule. Please yourself as well as others.

Wednesday, February 11, 2004

Moon in Libra, VOC @ 12:42AM EST.

Moon into Scorpio, Fixed Water (deep, powerful) @ 2:58PM EST.

Þ        Drift through the day as best you can, minding your manners. Connections with others might be touch and go but do what you can to support friends, associates and colleagues – and of course, your partner. You are likely to be surprised by a sudden expression of feeling from a friend.

Thursday, February 12, 2004

Moon in Scorpio.

Þ        Your insight into the deeper dynamics of what’s going on at work or in relationships may have you researching your own motives and position in the scheme of things. It’s a perfect day for uncovering hidden layers and understanding the unconscious workings of self and others.

Friday, February 13, 2004 Last Quarter Moon 24 Scorpio @ 8:39 AM EST.

Moon in Scorpio, VOC @ 8:39AM EST.

Moon into Sagittarius, Mutable, Fire (enthusiastic, adventurous) @ 6:35PM EST.

Þ        Friday the thirteenth brings a long void-of-course moon – meaning anything goes – your moods may move in unexpected directions and lead to unusual conclusions. You may find your way into hidden corners of your psyche – just don’t blame anyone but yourself, or the moon!

Saturday, February 14, 2003Valentine’s Day!

Moon in Sagittarius.

Þ        This V-Day has it all – fire, passion, generosity, magnanimous energies and that’s whether your reality has a significant someone or whether you just wish you did. Your feelings are huge either in being lucky or in feeling the disparity between what you have and what you want. Make plans to appreciate what’s in your life or to attain your dream.
