Planet Weather for the Week of October 26, 2008
NewsBits! Election Day Outlook! Election Day in the US is around the corner. It is a
powerful day astrologically. The Moon is in Capricorn, indicating the mood of
the people is focused on basic economic and job security issues. Saturn ruling,
the sign Capricorn in which the Moon resides that day, is in Virgo making the
first (of 5), exact oppositions (180deg. aspect) to UranusRx
Pisces. This energy pattern takes us to the end of July 2010! This is BIG!
Saturn and Uranus are opposing energies. Saturn expresses history, habit,
concentration, stability, familiarity, order, status, and responsibility, to
name a few. Uranus represents chaos, fracturing, freedom, innovation, truth, the
future, anarchy, explosiveness, among other definitions. With these two
meeting, things are definitely falling apart and something new wants to be
forged. Core rhetoric for this campaign has been change – everyone feels the
need of it, and the signals have become increasingly desperate, especially
since the end of September when the financial crisis reached a peak. Everyone
is affected now; we are in a crisis and the pressure of the crisis will bring
about necessary change. Even though the signals were there for a long time,
necessity is always the mother of invention. The Moon is Void-of-Course (VOC –
making no major aspects to other planets while in the last degrees of
Capricorn) from 1:47 AM ET to 7:01PM ET – on the West coast subtract 3 hours
from those times and 6 for Hawaii. This VOC Moon means the emotions of the day
and of the electorate are somewhat confused and this could create voting
irregularities and detours. People will head out toward one goal and may reach
another. This leads me to believe that the vote will be close, or vote-count
delayed. The prevailing energies of the Moon for most of the day are fear and
security based (Capricorn). People understand that the system is broken and
question who has the best ability to repair the damage and face the immense
challenges of this country. Early voting is a good insurance against problems
on Election Day. Mars in fixed, water Scorpio squares (90deg.) Neptune in
fixed, air Aquarius @ 2:45AM ET on 11/4/08, indicating disenchantment,
confusion, deception, and a desire to reach for a more ideal status quo. We need to look past the culture
of personality and ask the hard questions of who is capable to lead this
country through the rough waters ahead? Who has the
temperament, vision and will? Each voter must answer those questions for themselves
in the privacy of the voting booth. As if all of those conditions were not
enough, at 11AM ET, Mercury changes signs and enters Scorpio. A sign change is
another indicator that things can get messy and confused when a large event is
planned. The Moon enters Aquarius @ 7:01PM ET (make the necessary adjustment
for western states) and Obama has Jupiter @ 0 Aquarius. This isn’t the only indication
(his natal chart, progressions and Solar Return for 2008 all show a potential
win), but it is one, that Obama will probably be the next President of the
United States.
SkyWatch: Moon
Phase of the week: 10/28 -- The Moon enters Her new
cycle at 7:14 PM EDT, at 5 degrees of Scorpio. Astrologically, Scorpio is the
sign of the Moon's fall, being exactly opposite Taurus, the sign of Her exaltation. When the Moon is in Taurus, She is said to
be "dignified" (astrologically speaking) and in Scorpio to be
"debilitated." Modern astrology still uses the basic astrological
system invented by the ancient Greeks (with some modern modifications), and
they developed an elaborate system of dignities and debilities of this sort to
help determine whether a planet was operating well or poorly in terms of the effect
of its influence. So being New in Scorpio is not perhaps getting off to the
best start for Luna this time around. 10/31 -- However, the Crescent Moon will
be conjoining the astrological Royal Star Antares on
this date. Since their point of closest approach comes about 2 PM EDT, they
will still be very close together low in the West after sunset. In fact, in
parts of the Southern Hemisphere, the Moon will actually pass in front of or
"occult" the star, an event that should be visible from the southern
tip of Africa. Space News of the Week: Two Russian cosmonauts and an American
space tourist left the International Space Station and landed back on Earth
this past week in a problem-free reentry. Unlike the two previous descents in
the Soyuz capsule, this landing went smoothly and contributed to space tourism
becoming ever more routine -- for the very wealthy, at
any rate!
Go out! Look up!
Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!
The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is
a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major
aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less
outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting,
or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t
use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and
open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for
instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing
will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not
necessarily be negative.

Week of 10/26/08 – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Saturday are the most active energetically and potentially very productive days
– more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement with others or projects, and/or
producing results. On 10/28/08, the Moon is VOC/Libra from 6:05AM to 7:47AM EDT
– On 10/30/08, the Moon is VOC/Scorpio from 1:45AM to 6:41PM EDT.
PlanetPatterns:
The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day
and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact
culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary
pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.
Mercury in cardinal, air Libra square
(90deg.) Jupiter in cardinal, earth Capricorn @ 16deg. on 10/26/08 @ 8:14AM
EDT. You may say more than you
want to, in the enthusiasm of the moment, or because of the topic of conversation
– and you may regret it afterwards. Jupiter is a planet that can easily get
carried away, go over the top, and in its often reckless enthusiasm, place its
foot firmly in the mouth. A square aspect involving Jupiter often brings bad
judgment and a disregard, whether deliberately or through neglect, for the consequences
of one’s decisions. Jupiter is not typically negative in its motivation,
it errs usually, through a positive disregard of conventional or practical
wisdom.
Mars
in fixed, water Scorpio trine (120deg.) Uranus Rx in mutable, water Pisces @
19deg. on 10/31/08 @ 4:32PM EDT. Mars is
busy this week meeting first with Jupiter, then with Saturn, both in easy sextile (60deg.) aspects, and lastly a flowing connection
with Uranus. There is an element of surprise inthis
configuration and of stepping outside the bounds of convention, being radical insome way, bucking societal rules, being inventive,
creative, or simply being contrary and erratic. Additionally, this aspect
brings a sense of what is to come, a glimpse of the future and the magical
hopefulness that the realization of a dream or an ideal can bring. The glimpse
may be momentary but has its effect nevertheless on the heart and soul. It is
the yearning to be lifted up to all that is good in human nature and to see it
in practice in daily life.
